Competition Committee

Committee Meeting 3/25/2010

Competition Committee discussion will be incorporated into the discussion at our next regular meeting on 3/25 at the Helenic Center beginning at 7 pm. Discussion will include proposed rule changes.

Committee Report 12/15/2009

CJSA NE District Spring 2010 Season Planning Dates:

• April 5, 2010: Division 3 and Division 4 club entry deadline. Please email requirements to Dave Bachiochi at (including email contact for score reporting)
• April 7, 2010: Comp Committee Planning Session at Hellenic Center starting at 7:30pm. Any new Commissioner candidates should attend!
• April 11, 2010: Division 5 club entry deadline. Please email requirements to Dave Fraser at .
• April 14, 2010: Scheduling Meeting at Hellenic Center (without Dave B).
  • Division 5 scheduling meeting starts promptly at 6:30pm
  • Division 3/4 scheduling meeting starts promptly at 8:00pm
  • Division 3/4 team sign in starts at 7:45pm
• April 24-25, 2010: First weekend of Spring seasonal play
• June 5-6, 2010: U10-U14 Marlborough Jamboree
• June 19-20, 2010: Last weekend of Spring seasonal play, reserved for make ups, most likely.

Volunteers Wanted: Seeking volunteers for Divisional League Commissioners to manage the league scheduling and operation for one or more NE District Leagues this spring.

NED Rules of Competition – Rule Change considerations – Competition Committee winter meetings to be scheduled adjacent to the January and February NE District Board meetings (3rd week of January, 4th week of February).

Committee notes:

• The committee is soliciting input from the district membership for any areas of the Rules of Competition that need to be modified or reviewed. Please see Dave Bachiochi, committee chair or contact us with your thoughts.
• We plan to operate Boys and Girls leagues in Division 3, 4 and 5 as long as we have enough teams in a particular age group.
  • Division 3: Under 13-14 (11v11), Under 12 (8v8), Under 11 (8v8)
  • Division 4: Under 13-14 (11v11), Under 12 (8v8), Under 11 (8v8), Under 10 (7v7), Under 9 ( 7v7)
  • Division 5: Under 14 (6v6), Under 12 (7v7), Under 10 (7v7)

Coaching Committee

Coaching Committee is currently working on two related projects:

• Drafting a job description for a district coaching director
• Finding out from the clubs how best to allocate district resources to help the clubs develop soccer and players

Referees' Corner

• Ref assignors are encouraged to coordinate with each other to ensure coverage and fair access to reffing games
• Feedback is requested on the district's 3x5-inch laminated referee rule guides; use the contact form to let us know how these work out: click here to use the contact form
• A PDF of the 3-in. by 4-in. Northeast District Quick Rules card is available here – this card is intended as a quick reference guide for referees for district travel/competition (Division 3 and 4) and recreation (Division 5) games (not for CJSA-run statewide leagues)
